HERE Technologies integrates with Amazon SageMaker

HERE Technologies has augmented its HERE Workspace low-code map creation platform with machine learning capabilities from Amazon Web Services.

The HERE Workspace platform now offers new capabilities including a low-code environment for developing spatial intelligence.

Meanwhile, the platform has been modified to integrate with Amazon SageMaker to allow users to leverage machine learning tools. The integration allows customers to train models based on business activity, deploy to SageMaker and then seamlessly use models in HERE Workspace.

Combined with HERE Technologies’ location services and SDKs, users are able to develop navigable, actionable maps which serve as a basis on which to create private and customised experiences. For example, maps can be designed with logistics capabilities to enable more intelligent routing and accurate estimated time of arrival predictions.

Customers are already using the platform for purposes including creating a private map layer of automated driving zones, while a ride-hailing company is using private custom locations to guide drivers to the best pick-up and drop-off places, according to HERE Chief Product and Technology Officer Giovanni Lanfranchi.

“We believe that every smart enterprise will want its own private map, leveraging its own spatial data at scale,” he said.

“Building on our progress of the last years, we’re expanding the possibilities of HERE Workspace by connecting it to Amazon SageMaker, an end-to-end machine learning solution, to deliver even greater value for customers.”
