Snowflake completes IRAP assessment on GCP Melbourne
AI data cloud company Snowflake has passed an Infosec Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment for its deployment in Google Cloud’s Melbourne region.
The completion of the assessment supports the use of the company’s platform to handle government data up to the PROTECTED classification level.
The company had previously completed IRAP assessments for deployments of its platform on AWS and Microsoft Azure, according to Snowflake Regional VP for Australia Glenn McPherson.
“Completing an IRAP assessment at the PROTECTED level across all three major hyperscalers underscores our ongoing commitment to security and supporting Australian public sector customers with the controls and assurance they need to embrace an AI and data-driven future,” he said. “Unlocking the full value of data and AI is essential for Australian Government agencies to improve service delivery, strengthen security, and to enable faster, better-informed decisions.
“As agencies modernise legacy environments, manage growing volumes of sensitive information and embark on AI initiatives, they need a platform like Snowflake to support secure analytics, governed collaboration, and operational scale.”
Public sector agencies use the Snowflake platform for purposes including unifying fragmented data across systems for more complete analysis and reporting, enabling secure data sharing and collaboration without the need for unnecessary data duplication, and supporting the use of AI and advanced analytics on secure and compliant data.
