Putting GovDC migration to the test

Designed to smooth the GovDC PaaS transition, an all-in-one contract became a real learning experience for one NSW education agency.

The NSW Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES), like other state agencies, is required to migrate to the platform as a service (PaaS) environments within the state's redundant Tier III-certified GovDC data centres, in Silverwater and Wollongong, by 2017. This has required the BOSTES team to review its current and anticipated infrastructure requirements, and to plan out a migration path within allotted time frames. And Mitra Bhar, as CIO of BOSTES, has been right in the thick of the effort.

You can hear all about the project's efforts and outcomes at the Technology in Government conference and expo in Canberra, 2–3 August. Bhar will give a presentation on the second day of the event, Wednesday, 3 August, at 12.30 pm. Check out the Technology in Government website for the full line-up of dozens of public sector, academic and industry speakers who outline their experiences and insights into government ICT.
