Adactin supports ABS during 2026 Census

Technology services provider Adactin has revealed it completed a program of testing work for the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) service which allowed Australians to request a paper form during this year’s Census.

The ABS Paper Form Request Service (PFRS) used interactive voice response technology to automate the process of enabling residents to request a paper form as an alternative to completing the Census online.

To ensure the IVR solution could perform reliably under the expected strain, the ABS contracted Adactin to provide specialist IVR performance-testing expertise, test management capability and purpose-built tooling supplied through AI trust company Cyara.

Adactin was also tasked with planning and executing the performance-testing activities, and providing test management, coordination and reporting of the testing outcomes. All agreed activities were completed on time and within budget.

Adactin Country Head for ANZ Vab Mittal said through the program, Adactin was able to support the ABS in ensuring reliable access to the August Census.

“The successful completion of the performance testing provided the ABS with the assurance and confidence required ahead of deployment of the PFRS,” he said. “The service subsequently operated smoothly throughout the Census period and was successfully used by the Australian public, providing access to Census paper forms for thousands of people.”
