AIIA, DTA sign transformation MoU

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) and the federal Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) have signed a memorandum of understanding designed to explore ways to improve delivery of the government’s digital transformation agenda.

AIIA Chief Executive Officer Rob Fitzpatrick said the MoU demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to “accelerate its digital transformation and leverage the best industry has to offer”.

“AIIA’s members bring deep expertise, experience and intent,” he said.

“Australians collectively benefit from a government that works closely with the technology industry — large and small, domestic and global — to demonstrate how departments and agencies can maximise efficiencies and provide more compelling citizen services.”

“As government represents around one-third of all technology spend in Australia, getting the best outcome possible through close collaboration is critical for everyone — government, industry and citizens,” he added.

DTA Chief Executive Officer Gavin Slater said involving industry was crucial to achieving success.

“The information and technology industry has much to offer government and by engaging early in the design and development of programs, we have an opportunity to build in industry best practice, encourage innovation and make it easier to do business with government,” he said.

“In particular, we are looking forward to continuing to engage with the AIIA on the government’s ICT procurement reforms and digital identity and building digital capability programs.”
