CIBIS helps Civica build planning portal for NSW councils
The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) engaged Civica and Australian software developer CIBIS to design a new mandatory Planning Portal for councils.
The department has mandated that all development and planning applications be made via the new portal from 1 July.
Civica won the contract to design the new portal and engaged CIBIS as the preferred system integration provider for the project.
CIBIS’s brief was to quickly and efficiently connect Authority with the NSW ePlanning Portal using Authority APIs to allow council staff to access planning and development data from a central repository.
The company designed pre-built modules and a platform that will enable fast, accurate integration with the portal.
“Civica Authority deploys an advanced approach to APIs, which we took full advantage of,” CIBIS Managing Director Tony Heitmeyer said.
“They also make it simple to add more integration points when more functionality is added to the portal and so avoid the technical hurdles other software providers will have to jump over.”
The company also provided its Formlify solution for the project, which allows council staff to design web forms for customers to fill online, or take advantage of pre-built templates.
But according to Civica, many NSW local councils are struggling to be ready in time for the deadline. The company is urging councils to contact either Civica or CIBIS for assistance adopting the new portal.
