NSW signs whole-of-govt deals with Microsoft, Salesforce
The NSW Government has recently signed three new digital and telecoms deals aimed at giving agencies better buying power during procurement negotiations.
The government has signed deals with Microsoft, Salesforce and a range of telecommunications service providers designed to take advantage of the collective buying power of government.
NSW Government Chief Information and Digital Officer Greg Wells said the agreements ensure that agencies procuring through the suppliers get the best deal possible.
“We have built in pricing review mechanisms, and in the case of the telecommunications purchasing arrangements which includes multiple suppliers there is flexibility to ensure that new suppliers can come on board as technology changes and the market evolves,” he said.
The three-year agreement with Microsoft will allow for licence portability across agencies and will increase consistency in pricing and service delivery, Wells said.
Meanwhile, the government has signed a four-year contract with Microsoft that will give agencies the opportunity to adopt cloud-based applications to manage customer relationships and enable new collaboration models with citizens.
Finally, the five-year Telecommunications Purchasing Arrangements (TPAs) cover eight initial suppliers, including reportedly Telstra. These arrangements represent a whole-of-government approach to purchasing landline, mobile, fixed data and internet services.
