Orbus Software launches CivicInsights platform

Orbus Software has launched a new solution aimed at helping local councils adapt to the changing needs of their citizens. The solution, CivicInsights, is designed to help councils meet reporting requirements for areas including the effectiveness of their service delivery.

The company said CivicInsights streamlines reporting, provides access to real-time analytics and dashboards, and can help councils analyse service demand trends to identify underperforming areas.

The solution has been built on Orbus Software’s OrbusInfinity platform. Staff can use the platform to input and update service data, track progress and generate reports in a centralised system.

Orbus Software MD for APAC Peter White said local councils often encounter major business problems due to facing difficulty effectively reporting on the services they provide to the residents and businesses they serve.

“There are regulations in place — such as the New South Wales Local Government Act 1993 — that mandate councils to report on their service delivery in accordance with the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework; however, audits have found that councils report satisfactorily on the tasks they have done, but not so comprehensively on the outcomes of their effort,” he said. “More information is often required on how efficient they are, on their performance over time, or levels of customer satisfaction.”

White added that the platform can help councils address the difficulties involved with shared service agreements between councils. Before entering into such arrangements, councils often fail to assess the performance of their existing services, which precludes visibility into the strengths, weaknesses and potential areas for improvement in their service delivery.

“The absence of this hinders informed decision-making and efficient resource allocation. By addressing these issues, councils can enhance service delivery, optimise resources and better serve their communities,” he said. “Local councils in Australia strive for citizen satisfaction, cost-effectiveness and for both council staff and constituents having a great experience. We believe CivicInsights by Orbus Software can help them get there.”
