Queensland Health tenders for major ERP revamp
Queensland Health has launched a tender for a provider for a major ERP transformation project, the department’s second attempt to replace its 20-year-old ERP system.
The tender seeks applications from providers with the experience and capabilities needed to manage a project to replace its legacy system — a customised SAP ERP suite — with an on-premise version of SAP’s HANA cloud-based solution.
The tender calls the project “a major, once in a generation initiative, with enormous positive potential for one of Queensland’s largest, highest profile and service-critical organisations”.
“The benefits expected to be derived from improved, contemporary processes are substantial and have ramifications across the state, as do the potential risks from an unsuccessful transition,” the tender states.
Applicants should have demonstrated capabilities in SAP finance transformation projects across a large geographically dispersed environment.
Queensland Health has attempted once before to replace its legacy SAP system. An aborted attempt in the 2014–15 financial year cost the state around $36 million. The new ERP transformation project has a budget of around $105 million.
Applications for the tender closes 17 March. A briefing session for potential suppliers will be held in Brisbane on 27 February.
