Red Hat joins WorkPath Australia program
Red Hat has joined Vertical Scope Group’s WorkPath Australia program, aimed at helping Australian Defence Force veterans pursue learning and employment opportunities after their discharge.
WorkPath and Red Hat plan to collaborate to provide veterans with dedicated ICT employment pathways. The cooperation will seek to solve the problem many Australian companies face with building a security-cleared workforce.
As part of the program, Red Hat will offer free technical training to selected candidates based on specific job requirements.
Red Hat Regional VP and GM for ANZ Max McLaren said the partnership will help the company better serve its local customer base.
“We have many customers within the government sector in Australia, and are often requested to provide consultants with security clearances, which these veterans already possess,” he said.
“Also, with the unique environments of some of these jobs, we have found that ex-military staff are often a good fit as they are already familiar with working in such environments and have a general understanding and passion about our customers’ work.”
McLaren said there is a strong alignment between Red Hat’s goal of a better foundation for the future of IT using the principles of open source and Work Path’s aim of preparing employees for the jobs of tomorrow.
