Victor Dominello awarded honorary ACS Fellowship

Former NSW Minister for Digital and Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello has been awarded an honorary ACS Fellowship for his role in championing digital government services throughout his time in government.

Dominello, who also served in roles including Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation and Minister for Finance, Services and Property during the previous Liberal government, accepted the award during an event at the ACS Sydney Hub last week.

In awarding the Fellowship, ACS President Dr Nick Tate said Dominello’s championing of digital government services has shown how the technology sector can deliver real, tangible benefits to the community.

“The sharing of data across applications and the development of the ServiceNSW app have taken Australia and NSW to the forefront in delivering modern government services,” Tate said.

“The fellowship recognises Mr Dominello’s contribution and his leadership in driving NSW’s achievements, along with his passion for modernising how governments deliver services to their citizens. We hope he continues to have a role in the Australian technology sector now he has stepped down from government and ACS looks forward to working with him in his future endeavours.”

During his time as NSW Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, the former government established the NSW Data Analytics Centre, whose work produced the Data Sharing Frameworks with Privacy, Security, Ethics, Transparency and Inclusion.

Dominello also spearheaded the delivery of the Service NSW App, which put NSW in a position to deliver needed services during the COVID pandemic, including QR code check-in capability.

Dominello said he is honoured to have received the award. “I get inspiration from so many people, including the ACS community, so it’s a reflection in this award — of the hard work and motivation of all of those people both inside and outside the ACS,” he said.
