Excite Cyber expands its partnership with the AFP
Excite Cyber has announced it has expanded its partnership with the Australian Federal Police providing pro bono assistance in cybersecurity and digital forensics in the fight against crime, terrorism and exploitation.
For many years CBIT Digital Forensics has assisted the Australian Federal Police pro bono with digital forensics. Following CBIT’s acquisition by Excite Cyber, Bryan Saba, CEO at Excite Cyber has confirmed this will continue and be enhanced. Excite Cyber provides specialised technical services to government and law enforcement bodies, retrieving and analysing digital evidence essential to modern crime fighting.
The company works alongside law enforcement and legal teams to investigate and combat some of society’s most heinous crimes, including attempted murder, terrorism, child sexual exploitation and animal cruelty.
“We are a values- and purpose-driven company supporting a safe Australia. We work closely with the Australian Federal Police on cases related to murder, terrorism, child exploitation and animal cruelty. For a lot of those cases, we roll up our sleeves and do those cases pro bono donating our skills in the fight against crime,” Saba said.
Excite Cyber’s digital forensics team follows a 4-phase digital forensic process: freezing all digital assets, extracting data, ensuring a robust chain of custody, and appearing as expert witnesses when needed.
“Our work includes assisting law enforcement in serious criminal investigations with digital evidence. We have extracted critical data in child exploitation cases and helped authorities identify and apprehend offenders operating through encrypted platforms. We are also proud of the work we have done with animal welfare bodies to identify individuals involved in animal cruelty,” Saba explained.
