Secure IT lifecycle facility opened in Canberra

A new high-security, large-scale IT lifecycle facility specifically designed for the federal government and defence sectors was opened in Canberra today.

The Greenbox Systems Canberra IT Commissioning Centre (ITCC) will provide secure IT services backed by Defence standards, and ISO and R2 accreditations.

Projects conducted through the facility will be managed by a team of 25 security-cleared specialists.

Greenbox manages customers’ IT assets end to end, from pre-deployment and installation, through to critical data sanitisation and disposal.

The new site opening ceremony was attended by the Minister for Defence Industry, Christopher Pyne.

Shane Mulholland, CEO of Greenbox, said the ITCC was designed to fulfil the need for specialist resources in the Canberra region.

“Our emphasis on the secure management of sensitive IT assets from imaging to disposal of extremely sensitive data has generated significant interest for our services in Canberra,” he said.

“We previously delivered these services via our Sydney facility; however, the proliferation in both devices and data, as well as an increase in market demand, made it clear we needed a dedicated site to service the nation’s capital.”

As well as its security certifications, the 1500-square-metre commissioning centre can store more than 1500 pallets of equipment, and can conduct more than 2000 Standard Operating Environment loads daily with 800 machines operating simultaneously.

According to Mulholland, the ITCC is the largest IT lifecycle service centre in Australia.
