Smartsheet completes IRAP assessment

AI-powered enterprise work management platform provider Smartsheet has completed an Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP) assessment at the Sensitive classification level.

The independent assessment from Australian cybersecurity firm Sekuro clears the Smartsheet platform to manage low-security-classification government data, which will make it easier for Australian government departments to procure from the company.

IRAP assessments evaluate solutions against the requirements of the Australian Signals Directorate’s Information Security Manual. They can be completed at four levels, starting with sensitive, and moving to protected and secret. Top secret classifications are outside of the scope of the assessment.

The assessment can help streamline procurement, risk assessment and vendor review processes.

“Independent validations such as IRAP give government agencies and regulated organisations greater confidence in a platform’s ability to meet security and compliance requirements,” IDC Vice President and Chief Analyst for ANZ Linus Lai said.

Achieving the assessment builds on Smartsheet’s 2025 launch of its Smartsheet Regions Australia data residency option, which is hosted in Sydney with backup infrastructure in Melbourne, to give its customers the ability to keep their data within Australia for data sovereignty purposes.

Smartsheet VP and GM for APAC Jarrod Kinchington said the company is committed to meeting the evolving trust, governance and compliance requirements of Australian government agencies and regulated organisations.

“For [these] organisations, adopting new technology starts with proving it can be trusted with sensitive data,” he said. “IRAP gives them that proof, backed by an independent assessment. It also points to something bigger: we built our platform to be trustworthy from the ground up, so government agencies and enterprises can run their most critical work on Smartsheet, and scale AI, without compromising security or control.”
