Defence seeks SIs for ERP program
The Department of Defence is seeking system integrators to help it proceed with what is expected to be the largest-scale enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation within the Australian government.
The department’s Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) has issued an invitation to register over Austender seeking suitably qualified system integrators for the Defence ERP Program.
Aimed at ensuring end-to-end business process standardisation, the Defence ERP Program will deliver a near real-time integrated view of critical information accessible across the department.
“[This will] enable all levels of Defence to make better-informed decisions on preparedness and capability management,” the tender states.
The program will involve a major transformation across Defence’s finance and logistics operations, including procurement, engineering and maintenance.
According to the Austender listing, the purpose of the invitation is to draw up a shortlist of system integrators that will be called on in future procurement processes related to the program.
Implementation of the Defence ERP Program was a key recommendation of the government’s proposal to shift to an integrated ‘One Defence’ model, which involves implementing an enterprise approach to the delivery of services to defence agencies to maximise their efficiency.
The government has allocated $1 billion to $2 billion between 2016 and 2025 towards implementing an ERP system as part of its Defence Integrated Investment Program.
