Co-working conference for Sydney start-ups

A co-working conference will be held in August to support Sydney’s tech start-ups and small businesses.

Sponsored by the City of Sydney, the three-day Global Coworking Unconference Conference Australia 2018 will bring together more than 250 local and international experts, successful entrepreneurs and workspace providers.

Speakers from the United States, Europe and Asia will attend the conference, which will include tours of Sydney’s co-working spaces and networking sessions.

The ‘unconference’ will be a forum for local start-ups and small business owners to explore opportunities to further strengthen Sydney’s entrepreneurial workplace culture.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the event would provide a platform for new ideas and build on the success of the local co-working community.

“We strongly support the role of co-working spaces in helping our entrepreneurs launch and build companies with global potential, attract the best talent and boost our local economy,” Moore said.

“This conference is an opportunity to examine the emerging workplace model, support our local start-up community and help raise Sydney’s profile as an innovative and creative city.”

Brad Krauskopf, CEO and founder of co-working space provider Hub Australia, said the co-working sector had undergone rapid growth internationally and locally over the past few years.

“This event allows us to share knowledge, build a strong co-working community, create industry connections and promote the evolving sector on a local and global stage,” Krauskopf said.

The conference will take place 15–17 August with events at the Australian National Maritime Museum and the Sydney Startup Hub. The program includes:

• a tour of Sydney’s co-working spaces followed by networking drinks to discuss the tours
• keynote speakers and panel discussions with national and international experts from the industry
• an ‘unconference’ for participants to share knowledge and learnings in an informal setting.
