DTA releases Major Digital Projects Report 2025
The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has published its annual report on major digital projects. The DTA says that all 110 projects featured harness technology to deliver benefits for Australians, and the report highlights work underway to support the success of these projects.
The government is committed to a transparent and innovative digital public service. To realise this vision, the DTA is supporting the Australian Government to provide greater visibility over digital projects.
The latest release of the Major Digital Projects Report includes projects covered by the Assurance Framework. This means they use technology as the primary method to achieve outcomes and benefits.
The projects are improving the lives of Australians, modernising systems, transforming services, and driving greater efficiency and effectiveness in the operations of agencies.
Collectively, the projects will play a key role in the government’s vision for simple, secure and connected public service enabled through world class data and digital capabilities, according to the DTA.
In addition to previous announcements on the new Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) program launching in early 2025 and the new Benefits Management Policy, the report highlights a range of reforms focussed on ensuring all digital projects have the best chance of success.
Digital projects under the DTA’s assurance oversight have been grouped into the following nine sectors:
- Healthcare and aged care
- Industry, infrastructure and business
- Safety of Australians
- Agriculture and trade
- Resources and the environment
- Social services
- Education and employment
- Government
- Tax and super
Of these, more than 50% ($8 billion) are associated with healthcare, aged care, the safety of Australians and resources and the environment.
