Tuesday, 01 November, 2016

The Tasmanian Government has invested $50,000 in the 2016 Budget TasICT Generations Project.

The pilot project aims to redress skills shortages in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and ICT skills in the state.

Investment in the STEM and ICT sector is designed to build capacity, create employment opportunities for Tasmanians and encourage innovation in the state.

The Generations Project will also deliver a series of guest lecture events, which will be held around the state. They will feature ICT leaders speaking on their career pathways and the importance of study in STEM and ICT fields.

The funding announcement was made at the Women in Tech event in Launceston, which included presentations from women ICT industry leaders and students from years 7–12 with presentations focusing on their STEM focused career and study pathways.

The Generations Project is a part of a calendar of events delivered around the state, supported by the Hodgman Government, to develop Tasmania’s ICT capability and also includes IT @ Work and IT’s Your Career.
