VIDEO: Smart streetlights are a bright idea
The Australian Smart Lighting Summit is less than two months away, with government, industry and academic participants ready to share their experiences and knowledge.
Smart street lighting is an important part of local government’s efforts to be more environmentally friendly, reduce costs and improve services to the public.
In the following two videos from ExpotradeTV, experts from two Victorian councils describe how smart street lighting is being used to achieve these and other goals.
In the first video, Ian Dryden from the City of Melbourne provides an overview of the council’s smart lighting efforts, in keeping with the City’s wider aim of heading toward zero net emissions.
And in the second video, Marc Cassanet of Wyndham City Council gives an insight into the council’s investigation of the urban heat island effect through sensors incorporated into smart lighting.
