Australia to host Women in AI Awards in 2021
Women in AI (WAI) Australia has announced the WAI Awards Australia 2021 for Australia and New Zealand. The awards are an important part of the international Women in AI initiative. Following the inaugural European WAI Awards in Paris in April 2019, the ANZ WAI Awards are judged by innovation, global potential and impact, and ability for the AI solution to do good for the community and citizens.
The ANZ WAI awards are open to female entrepreneurs in the AI field who have founded or co-founded a company with a working product and are based in Australia and New Zealand. The Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation will be held on 23 February 2021 at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
“It’s no surprise to us that Australia is the first country outside Europe to hold the WAI Awards. With over 4000 members worldwide, Women in AI continues to kick goals,” said Beth Carey, Australian Women in AI Ambassador.
The winner of each of the 11 categories across industry sectors will be eligible for the Grand Award Australia-New Zealand WAI Entrepreneur of the Year. Presented by the Hon Julie Bishop, the Grand Award includes prize money, meetings with VCs and extensive networking and collaboration opportunities.
The awards will be open for entry from Monday, 14 September 2020. The Hon Julie Bishop acknowledged the importance of artificial intelligence in changing the world, stating that women in AI will play an important role in the coming years in guiding the development of this technology.
