Okta opens second Australian data centre
Identity services provider Okta has opened a second Australian data centre, and launched its enhanced disaster recovery services in the market. The new data centre on the AWS Melbourne cloud infrastructure will help meet Australian organisations’ needs to consider data residency requirements.
Meanwhile, Australia has become the first region outside of North America to be provided with the Enhanced Disaster Recovery service, which promises to reduce identity verification system recovery times from one hour to as little as five minutes.
The service complies with a wide range of global security standards, and the second point of presence in Australia enables customers to maintain control over where data is stored within Australia.
Okta VP for Presales APJ Stephanie Barnett said the expansion highlights Okta’s commitment to the Asia–Pacific region.
“Organisations grind to a halt when identity systems go down; they can’t build, deliver or maintain services or ensure continuity of service for critical infrastructure and operations,” she said. “With the Australian Data Centre and the availability of Enhanced Disaster Recovery, organisations can feel more secure and confident, ensure faster failover and business continuity.”
In February, Okta completed Infosec Registered Assessors’ Program (IRAP) assessments for its Auth0 and Okta Identity platforms, paving the way for their use to process and transmit information up to the Protected classification level.
