Databricks announces Data and AI Academy for Queensland Government
The Queensland Government and Databricks have launched a new Data and AI Academy, tasked with upskilling more than 100 Queensland Government staff in data, analytics and AI skills.
The Databricks Data and AI Academy will seek to enhance the capabilities of public sector staff by giving participants the knowledge needed to obtain the necessary Databricks accreditations and certifications. Graduates from the program will then be able to train their colleagues, empowering public sector staff to better leverage the suite of data and AI capabilities available through the Databricks platform.
The academy will also teach participants to build, train and deploy their own AI models by automatic preprocessing, engineering and model training processes.
The academy is initially available to staff of the National Injury Insurance Scheme and Queensland Health. Databricks aims to expand the program to cover additional departments from within the Queensland Government over time.
Databricks VP and GM for ANZ Adam Beavis said the program will help departments build the skills they need in the digital era.
“Between Australia’s tight talent market and the quick rise and rapid evolution of AI capabilities, many organisations understand they must double down on training efforts to run best-in-class operations,” he said. “Our leading data and AI academy program uniquely positions us to assist and guide institutions like the NIISQ and Queensland Health in upskilling staff to accelerate the development of different use cases and their implementation to further innovation.”
