Digital Marketplace hits two-year milestone
The Digital Transformation Agency has announced that its Digital Marketplace government ICT procurement portal has reached its two-year anniversary, awarding contracts for over 1000 tendering opportunities over these first two years.
The platform has awarded contracts worth over over $248 million across the 1000 opportunities since launching in 2016.
Digital Marketplace now has over 1700 listed buyers from nearly 100 government agencies, enterprises and universities, and over 1000 businesses across all sizes in its seller catalogue.
Almost three-quarters of the contracts awarded through the platform have been to SMEs, a number of whom are selling to the Australian Government for the first time as a result of being listed on the portal.
These metrics are even more significant considering that the portal was originally opened to only a limited range of product categories and approved suppliers. In early 2017, the platform was opened to an unlimited number of sellers, with a range of new categories added.
“The Marketplace plays a key role in the ICT procurement transformation being led by the DTA. Our objectives are to improve access, encourage competition and innovation, and streamline procurement processes. Our clear message is that the Australian Government is open for business,” DTA CEO Randall Brugeaud said.
“We have always had high hopes for the Digital Marketplace. Our latest milestone of 1000 opportunities is a testament to the value of the platform for both government and industry.”
