Queensland appoints Chief Customer and Digital Officer
The Queensland Government has appointed a new Chief Customer and Digital Officer to drive the state’s transition to digitally enabled government services.
Chris McLaren will assume the new role on 4 April. McLaren has 25 years’ experience as a senior executive in companies in Australia, the US and the UK, having served in roles including partner at KPMG and country head for consultancy marketplace XpertiseNow.
He also spent 10 years at Capgemini in roles including telecommunications, media and entertainment sector leader.
In his new role, Chris McLaren will lead the Queensland Government Customer and Digital Group within the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy, Minister for Digital Economy Leeanne Enoch announced.
“The CCDO role has a unique focus on driving our state’s digital economy and ensuring that government services are transformed, digitised, connected and accessible for all Queenslanders,” she said.
“Chris has a successful 25-year track record... leading, growing, transforming and advising industries, including technology, telecom, utility, energy, services and software organisations. “He specialises in digital enablement and transformation, customer experience, operations improvement and technology innovation.”
Enoch added that this expertise makes McLaren a great fit for the CCDO role. She said the role is responsible for digital improvements that streamline and integrate services, develop digital business models, support agile ways of working and modernise the state’s approach to procurement, funding, investment and governance.
