Uni of Sydney, UTS to lead Connectivity Innovation Network
The University of Technology Sydney and the University of Sydney have been selected to lead the establishment of NSW’s new Connectivity Innovation Network.
The new network has been conceived by the NSW Telco Authority in consultation with the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer.
It will be designed to bring together researchers, industry and government agencies to solve connectivity challenges and deliver improved outcomes for NSW citizens.
The network will focus on research solutions to network challenges such as power resilience, ubiquitous connectivity and sensors, as well as network and cyber automation.
“The Connectivity Innovation Network will connect NSW government agencies to specialists in our universities, research institutes and industry who have the skills and expertise to solve connectivity challenges,” NSW Telco Authority Managing Director Kylie De Courteney said.
“Delivering improved connectivity has the potential to reduce the digital divide for regional and remote citizens and businesses and provide emergency services organisations with critical communications across the state.”
The NSW Telco Authority is responsible for the operation of the state’s Public Safety Network, one of the largest critical communications networks in the world.
UTS and the University of Sydney were selected to jointly lead the network following a request for proposals conducted by the government in 2021.
