archTIS adds watermarking feature to NC Protect
Secure collaboration company archTIS has launched a new watermarking feature for NC Protect, designed to US Defence requirements.
The new CUI Designator labelling capability has been designed to help Defence and its industrial partners to meet the requirements for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) document handling and tagging.
CUI documents are government-created or -owned information that requires safeguarding or dissemination controls consistent with applicable laws, regulations and government-wide policies.
The new labelling capability is designed to support NC Protect’s existing ability to automate the identification and classification of CUI material stored across platforms including Microsoft 356 and SharePoint.
The capability automatically embeds required information including Owner Name, Controlled By, Category, Distribution/Limited Dissemination Control and POC into the document as a watermark.
According to archTIS Global COO Kurt Mueffelmann, the new capability has been designed to meet customers’ evolving demands.
“Our [Defence] clients are now required to include a CUI Designator mark/label with five key pieces of information that cannot be achieved natively in M365, SharePoint on-premises and Files Shares,” he explained.
“This enhancement highlights how NC Protect continues to add value to our customers’ existing Microsoft investments with additional complementary capabilities. It has yielded several IP Co-Sell opportunities with Microsoft as it solves an important challenge for the DIBs, creating a significant market opportunity.”
NC Protect is also capable of applying dynamic protection to prevent visibility of the document to unauthorised users and prevent emailing, based on criteria including classification level, a user’s geographic location and security privileges.
