Australian sovereign quantum encryption service coming
Sovereign Cloud Holdings (AUCloud) has teamed up with Arqit to launch Australia’s first sovereign quantum encryption service.
Under the agreement, Arqit will bring its Federated Quantum System service to Australia in support of the planned joint development of an Australia-wide network of Sovereign Quantum Edge Cloud Services.
AUCloud will partner with Arqit to target customers in the defence, government, critical national infrastructure and enterprise sectors.
“We are excited to build upon AUCloud’s sovereign cloud focus and partner with Arqit to launch its pioneering sovereign quantum edge cloud service, as Australia continues to reinforce its technical contributions to the space, cyber and quantum technology mission,” AUCloud managing director and co-founder Phil Dawson said.
Arqit has recently been awarded a contract to prepare Australia’s participation in its FQS program alongside the UK and Canada. The contract covers defining technical contributions to the mission, industrial supply chain and preparation for deployment of Arqit’s QuantumCloud technology.
Arqit founder and CEO David Williams welcomed the contract. “We are delighted to support the Australian, UK and US alliance for joint defence investment and innovation,” he said.
“The world needs stronger, simpler encryption, and it is important that allied countries work together to share the benefit of Arqit’s globally unique, transformational quantum safe encryption. We look forward to deepening our partnership with Australian industry in this effort.”
