Sydney Water names new CIO
Sydney Water has appointed IT industry veteran George Hunt as its new CIO, effective 14 March.
ITNews reports that Hunt will be based out of Sydney Water’s head office in Parramatta and report directly to the managing director.
Hunt has previously held roles including global consulting partner for utilities at Wipro, CIO of the UK-based Wessex Water, and CTO of Thames Water and American Water in the US.
He is replacing Stephen Wilson, who retired last year after a long career in the technology industry.
In other news, Victoria’s Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) has meanwhile commenced the hunt for a new CIO for the second time in less than a year, following the departure of current IT chief Glenn Page.
Page has accepted the role of global head of operational excellence at Tata Consultancy Services, and left ESTA last month. He was appointed in August last year.
Executive manager of operations support Lisa Mannix has taken over as acting CIO following the departure, and ESTA is evaluating whether to replace the role permanently.
